This body of work is inspired by a recent trip to India and the street art I found there called Kolams. Kolams are a transient art, an anonymous one. Millions of women in India draw by hand these beautiful patterns on the ground in front of their homes every morning using rice flour. It is done in a spirit of prayer and thanksgiving for the welfare of the family. It is even considered a welcome mat for humans as well as heavenly visitors.
